Being a Stepmom is not always the easiest job in the world. Accepting another woman in your Childs life is not the easiest either. Most of you know that I have been a single mom for the last four years, (Until recently getting engaged) and I was perfectly okay with that for the time being. Then my older two kids dad got re-married.
My first reaction I’m sure was a lot like most women in that situation…GREAT! Now I get to deal with that!
At first things were a little rocky with us all trying to find where we fit with all the newness, and the kids had learned they could play both sides against the middle, so that obviously didn’t help.
As time went by and I really began to stop and think about things and get to know my kids new step mom, I developed a whole new appreciation and respect for her.
I realized that in our situation I’m not always around, and the fact of it is, the kids need that mom figure around all the time! I am very grateful now that my kids have a stepmom to be there when I cant, to hold their hands when I cant, to keep them safe when I cant.
So this Holiday season lets make sure we all take the time to stop and thank the ones behind the scenes with us, and just let them know we are grateful for them!
So…To my kids Stepmom,
I am truly blessed to have you in my kids lives. I am so grateful that you love them like your own and protect them as your own. I know we don’t always see eye to eye, but I know you have the kids best interest at heart at all times. It really means the world to me to know that when one of them is scared and I cant be there, you’ll have their backs. Or when one of them falls and I cant be there to pick them up, I know right where you’ll be. No matter how hard things have gotten with the kids or how tough the obstacles have been, you always stand right there with us, when most people would have ran for their lives! So I just want to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for the kids! I couldn’t have asked for a better stepmom for my kids!
